Liberty State Park - Politics

Right now there is a lot of talk within Jersey City about Liberty State Park. There is a lot to discuss so I will use this as a place to set my ideas straight.

Redistricting - Politics

One of the most blatant and shameful examples of New Jersey corruption can be seen in the redistricing of Jersey City's ward earlier this year.

I have made a couple maps using Dave's Redistricing online tool to demonstrate this.

The decision to move Liberty State Park out of Ward F is blatant disenfranchisment of voters. Due to the fact nobody lives there, there is no reason it needs to be moved for redistricing puposes.

LaMDA and General AI - Tech

I was quite amused when I heard that a eccentric engineer at Google had gotten too attached to a Natural Language Processor. I think for many people that closely follow developments with DeepMind and OpenAI's latest projects, we understand how early in the infancy of AI we still are, despite the incredible things that can already be done. But I was quite shocked seeing the headlines of articles that followed.

The fact is, we are not even close to an AI being sapient, if that is indeed even a possibility. One should not be suprised however that an advanced algorithm, trained specifically to mimic human speech, is able to mimic the speech of a human. I would have hoped that the press organizations would have experts to caution them away from sensationalizing this topic, and not give the story any more oxygen than it deserves. In this day and age, consipirasits can latch on to any room you give them.
